As the world gets smaller, so travellers increasingly seek holidays to inspire and broaden horizons, holidays that may mean adventure, cultural experience and discovery.
We create ‘explorer’ experiences supported by only the best local guides. The journeys are exciting, interesting, diverse, unique and open to people of all ages.
For those looking for something more adventurous than just a week relaxing on a beach, there is a whole array of special interest travel ideas waiting to be discovered from camel trekking and camping under the stars in Jordan, to going on Tiger Safari in India, mountain biking in Bhutan, seeing the ‘Big Five’ in Africa, taking a Nomadic Explorer Tour in Mongolia, following the footsteps of The Incas in Peru or simply walking in Tuscany, for example. The opportunities are endless.
It is easy to disappear off to some remote place to realise your dream, but it should be recognised that an itinerary planned by experts and supported by local representation will be worth every single penny and more. By using recognised, specialist tour companies you will have a constant contact throughout your travels and receive helpful advice and expertise to provide you with a totally enriching experience without having to worry about anything at all.
Many of the more unusual destinations have different lifestyles and events can be far less predictable than at home. Health, safety and operational standards are often not up to Western expectations, you will encounter different cultural behaviour and customs, the food will be different, it may be difficult to find clean drinking water or good roads when exploring off the beaten track and many cities will be crowded, noisy and over-whelming. Some accommodation may be very basic such as camping out in Wadi Rum in Jordan or at a bush camp in South Africa, a ‘ger’ tent in Mongolia or a rice boat in Kerala but sometimes the most basic facilities create the most memorable nights!
There are so many wonderful special interest holidays to choose from now and we are sure everyone has at least one on their wish list of ‘things to do’.

Oberammergau & the 2010 Passion Play
The history of the Oberammergau Passion Play began back in 1633. During the Thirty Years' War, after much suffering and death caused by the plague, the surviving population of Oberammergau vowed that they would perform the play of the suffering, death and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ every ten years if they were spared from extinction. At Whitsun in 1634 they kept their promise for the first time. Nowadays the 5000 inhabitants of the village play host to just under half a million visitors who make the pilgrimage to see this world famous religious festival. All of the cast live in the village and preparations for each performance commences eight years previously.
The Passion Play is performed on an open air stage from May to September starting in the afternoon and resuming in the evening following a three hour interval. The 2010 production is being directed under the watchful eye of Christian Stuckl and the music composed by Markus Zwink and Michael Bocklet.
We are able to offer various travel options to incorporate the Passion Play, from tailor-made itineraries, group travel, coach, rail or air combining various durations, stops and a choice of accommodation.
